POPULAR HITS

Celtic Woman

The group has undertaken a number of world tours. Cumulatively, albums by Celtic Woman have sold over 6 million records worldwide

AMAZING GRACE

"Amazing Grace" is one of the most recognizable songs in the English-speaking world.
Gilbert Chase writes that "Amazing Grace" is "without a doubt the most famous of all the folk hymns",[1] and Jonathan Aitken, a Newton biographer, estimates that it is performed about 10 million times annually.[2] It has had particular influence in folk music, and become an emblematic African American spiritual. Its universal message has been a significant factor in its crossover into secular music. "Amazing Grace" saw a resurgence in popularity in the U.S. during the 1960s and has been recorded thousands of times during and since the 20th century, sometimes appearing on popular music charts.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

T'was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

When we've been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we've first begun.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

are very popular

sky and the dawn and the sun:

High is the moon tonight
Hiding its guiding light
High
Heaven and earth do sleep
Still in the dark so deep
I will the darkness sweep
I will the moon to flight
I will the heavens bright
I will the earth delight
Open your eyes with me
See paradise with me
Awake and arise with me
I am the dawn, I'm the new day begun
I bring you the morning, I bring you the sun
I hold back the night and I open the skies
I give light to the world, I give sight to your eyes
From the first of all time, until time is undone
Forever and ever and ever and ever
And I am the dawn and the sky and the sun
I am one with the One, and I am the dawn
I am the sky and the dawn and the sun
I am the sky and the new day begun
I am the sky and the dawn and the sun

"The Prayer"

I pray you'll be our eyes
And watch us where we go
And help us to be wise
In times when we don't know
Let this be our prayer
As we go our way
Lead us to a place
Guide us with your grace
To a place where we'll be safe
I pray we'll find your light
And hold it in our hearts
When stars go out each night
Remind us where you are
Let this be our prayer
When shadows fill our day
Lead us to a place
Guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe
We ask that life be kind
And watch us from above
We hope each soul will find
Another soul to love
Let this be our prayer
Just like every child
Needs to find a place
Guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe
Need to find a place
Guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe

"Caledonia"
The song has become something of an anthem for Scotland (the term "Caledonia"
itself is a Latin word for Scotland). The song was featured in an advert on
Scottish television for the Homecoming Scotland 2009, a campaign by
VisitScotland which invited people to come home to Scotland in 2009 (the 250th
anniversary of Robert Burns's birth).
The advert featured a variety of Scottish actors, singers and celebrities,
including Sean Connery, Sir Chris Hoy, Eddi Reader and Lulu, all of whom sang
(or spoke, as Connery did) part of the song
---
this song was covered by many artists
Dolores Keane,celtic woman, celtic thunder,
MARY BLACK, RONAN KEATING ETC

I don't know if you can see
The changes that have come over me
In these last few days I've been afraid
That I might drift away
I've been telling old stories, singing songs
That make me think about where I've come from
That's the reason why I seem
So far away today

Let me tell you that I love you
That I think about you all the time
Caledonia, you're calling me, now I'm going home
But if I should become a stranger
Know that it would make me more than sad
Caledonia's been everything I've ever had
chorus
Now I have moved and I've kept on moving
Proved the points that I needed proving
Lost the friends that I needed losing
Found others on the way
I have kissed the fellas and left them crying
Stolen dreams, yes, there's no denying
I have traveled hard, sometimes with conscience flying
Somewhere with the wind
[Chorus - let me tell u....]
Now I'm sitting here before the fire
The empty room, the forest choir
The flames have cooled, don't get any higher
They've withered, now they've gone
But I'm steady thinking, my way is clear
And I know what I will do tomorrow
When hands have shaken, the kisses float
Then I will disappear
[Chorus]
Caledonia's been everything I've ever had
Caledonia's been everything I've ever had
Caledonia's been everything I've ever had

Somewhere over the rainbowWay up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true
Some day I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh, why can't I?
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true

Sailing, sailing
Somewhere beyond the sea
Somewhere waiting for me
My lover stands on golden sands
And watches the ships that go sailing
Somewhere beyond the sea
He's there watching for me
If I could fly like birds on high
Then straight to his arms I'd go sailing
It's far beyond the stars
It's near beyond the moon
I know beyond a doubt
My heart will lead me there soon
We'll meet beyond the shore
We'll kiss just like before
Happy we will be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing
Sailing...
We'll meet, I know we'll meet beyond the shore
We'll kiss just as before
Happy we'll be beyond the sea
And never again I'll go sailing
Sailing
No more sailing
No more sailing

AT THE CEILI

ALL Tonight we’re going to meet some lads us girls are dressed up gaily
And we’ll be dancing till the dawn we’re going to the ceili
The lads they come from miles around from Ennis and Kilmaley
To show us all their fancy steps we’re going to the ceili
They’re planning tunes on everything from pipes to ukulele
It sounds so good you can’t sit down we’re dancing at the ceili
LISA KELLY
All the boys we loved so well so handsome young and charming
They’re in New York and Boston now they should be home here farming
My own true love has sailed away to be an endless rover
’Cause times are tough and he must leave
To start a new life over
ALL, WITH LISA KELLY
He writes me letters every week to say how much he’s slaving
And he promises that he’ll be back before the hay needs saving
But it’s hard to love somebody that you’re not in touch with daily
So I’m looking for somebody new tonight down at the ceili
LISA KELLY
The winter nights are long and hard and time goes by so slowly
I wish my true lover he was here and in his arms I’d roll
He’d whisper tender words of love to me and kiss my lips so sweetly
And quickly I’d surrender to His manly charms completely
ALL, WITH LISA KELLY
He writes me letters every week to say how much he’s slaving
And he promises that he’ll be back before the hay needs saving
But it’s hard to love somebody that you’re not in touch with daily
So I’m looking for somebody new tonight down at the ceili
So I’m looking for somebody new tonight down at the ceili
ORLA FALLON
I hope I meet someone tonight who’ll make me heart beat fast
A handsome man with laughing eyes who smiles as he walks past
And when they play an old-time waltz he’ll twirl me round the floor
And promise me that I will be His girl forevermore
His girl forevermore
His girl forevermore
Who’ll promise me that I will be His girl forevermore
MÉAV NÍ MHAOLCHATHA
I’m somewhat in a bother that is really quite alarming
I have two lads pursuing me and each of them is charming
One of them is dark and poor one fair with lots of money
I don’t know which one to choose The flower or the honey
ALL, WITH MÉAV NÍ MHAOLCHATHA
What on earth am I to do it’s driving me half crazy
Tonight I’ll make my mind up when I see them at the ceili
MÉAV NÍ MHAOLCHATHA
To be a poor man’s wife would be a life of washing dishes
While a rich man’s wife would surely have great luxury and riches
In comfort how I know it wouldn’t be too hard to wallow
And being poor is not much fun
Which one should I follow
ALL, WITH MÉAV NÍ MHAOLCHATHA
What on earth am I to do it’s driving me half crazy
Tonight I’ll make my mind up when I see them at the ceili
LISA KELLY
I’ve been lucky I’ve found a lad who’s handsome and a neighbour
ORLA FALLON
And me I’ve met a decent man whose friendship I will savour
MÉAV NÍ MHAOLCHATHA
And me I’ve made my choice as well and in no way was it aisy
But I’d rather have a man for love
Than be a rich man’s lady
ALL
And that is how the story ends may true love never fail me
We got ourselves three men tonight
And we met them at the ceili

"Carrickfergus"  ( A TOWN NEAR BELFAST, IRELAND)

"Carrickfergus" is an Irish folk song, named after the town of Carrickfergus in
County Antrim, Northern Ireland.
The song is a popular request at folk festivals and concerts, and was played at
the 1999 funeral of John F. Kennedy, Jr. The song was more recently performed
by Loudon Wainwright III over the closing credits of HBO's series, Boardwalk
Empire.

I wish I was in Carrickfergus
Only for nights in Ballygrand
I would swim over the deepest ocean
The deepest ocean for my love to find
But the sea is wide and I cannot swim over
Neither have I wings to fly
If I could find me a handsome boatsman
To ferry me over to my love and die
My childhood days bring back sad reflections
Of happy times spent so long ago
My childhood friends and my own relations
Have all passed on now like melting snow
But I'll spend my days in endless roaming
Soft is the grass, my bed is free
Ah, to be back now in Carrickfergus
On that long road down to the sea
I'll spend my days in endless roaming
Soft is the grass, my bed is free
But I am sick now, and my days are numbered
Come all you young men and lay me down

"Sing Out!"

Sing a new song to the world
Let your voice be heard
Go and bring the word
This whole world was meant to be
For you as well as me
For humanity
We all travel the same road
Carry the same load
Reap what we have sowed
You are hoping just like me
To live with dignity
Hoping to be free
Sing out, sing out, sing to the world
Sing out, you will be heard
Sing the message and the word
Sing a new song to the world
Sing out, sing to the world
If your God's the same as mine
Has been for all time
Why are we so blind?
What we're doing in his name
Well, its a crying shame
Sing Out!
We all cry the same
Sing out, sing out, sing to the world
Sing out, you will be heard
Sing the message and the word
Sing a new song to the world
Sing out, sing to the world

Lyrics to Spanish Lady :

As I came down through Dublin City
At the hour of twelve at night
Who should I see but the Spanish lady
Washing her feet by candlelight
First she washed them, then she dried them
Over a fire of amber coal
In all my life I ne'er did see
A maid so sweet about the sole
Chorus:
Whack for the toora loora laddy
Whack for the toora loora lay
Whack for the toora loora laddy
Whack for the toora loora lay
As I came back through Dublin City
At the hour of half past eight
Who should I spy but the Spanish lady
Brushing her hair in the broad daylight
First she tossed it, then she brushed it
On her lap was a silver comb
In all my life I ne'er did see
A maid so fair since I did roam
(Chorus)
As I went back through Dublin City
As the sun began to set
Who should I spy but the Spanish lady
Catching a moth in a golden net
When she saw me, then she fled me
Lifting her petticoat over her knee
In all my life I ne'er did see
A maid so shy as the Spanish lady
(Chorus...)

(Chorus...)

THE VOICE

I hear your voice on the wind
And I here you call out my name
'Listen my child', you say to me
'I am the voice of your history
Be not afraid, come follow me
Answer my call and I'll set you free'
I am the voice in the wind and the pouring rain
I am the voice of your hunger and pain
I am the voice that always is calling you
I am the voice, I will remain
I am the voice in the fields when the summer's gone
The dance of the leaves when the autumn winds blow
Ne'er do I sleep throughout all the cold winter long
I am the force that in springtime will grow

I am the voice of the past that will always be
Filled with my sorrow and blood in my fields
I am the voice of the future
Bring me your peace
Bring me your peace and my wounds, they will heal
I am the voice in the wind and the pouring rain
I am the voice of your hunger and pain
I am the voice that always is calling you
I am the voice
I am the voice of the past that will always be
I am the voice of your hunger and pain
I am the voice of the future
I am the voice
I am the voice
I am the voice
I am the voice

somewhere
There's a place for us,
somewhere a place for us.
Peace and quite and open air,
wait for us, somewhere.
There's a time for us,
someday a time for us.
Time together will time to spend,
time to learn,
time to care.

Someday, somewhere,
i'll find in you way of living,
we'll find the way of forgiving.
Somewhere, somewhere.
There's a place for us,
a time and place for us,
hold my hand and we'll have one day,
hold my hand and i'll take you there.
Somehow, someday, somewhere.

"Mo Ghile Mear"

Lá na mara
Lá na mara nó rabharta
Guth na dtonnta a leanadh
Guth na dtonnta a leanfad ó
Lá na mara nó lom trá
Lá na mara nó rabharta
Lá an ghainimh, lom trá
Lá an ghainimh
(The day of the sea
The day of the sea or of the high tides
To follow the voice of the waves
I would follow the voice of the waves
The day of the sea or the ebb tide
The day of the sea or of the high tides
The day of the sands, the ebb tide
The day of the sands)
Can you feel the river run?
Waves are dancing to the sun
Take the tide and face the sea
And find a way to follow me
Leave the field and leave the fire
And find the flame of your desire
Set your heart on this far shore
And sing your dream to me once more
[Chorus:]
'Sé mo laoch mo ghile mear
'Sé mo Shéasar, gile mear
Suan gan séan ní bhfuair mé féin
Ó chuaigh i gcéin mo ghile mear
(He is my hero, my dashing darling
He is my Caesar, dashing darling
Rest or pleasure I did not get
Since he went far away, my darling)
Now the time has come to leave
Keep the flame and still believe
Know that love will shine through darkness
One bright star to light the wave
[Chorus]
Amhrán na farraige
Ór ar na seolta
Amhrán na farraige
Ag seoladh na bhfonnta...
(Song of the sea
Gold on the sails
Song of the sea
Sending the melodies...)
Lift your voice and raise the sail
Know that love will never fail
Know that I will sing to you
Each night as I dream of you
[Chorus]
Ag seinm na farraige
Ag seinm na farraige
(Playing the sea
Playing the sea)
Seinn... Play...
[Chorus]
Gile mear, the wind and sun
The sleep is over, dream is done
To the west where fire sets
To the gile mear, the day begun
[Chorus 2x]
Ó chuaigh i gcéin mo ghile mear
(Since he went far away, my darling)
Amhrán na farraige
Ór ar na seolta
Ag seoladh na bhfonnta
(Song of the sea
Gold on the sails
Sending the melodies)

YOU RAIS ME UP

In 2004, the song was played more than 500,000
times on American radio. In late 2005,
there were over 80 versions available in USA
alone, and it has become nominated for
Gospel Music Awards four times, including
"Song of the Year."
the song has now been covered more than 125
times,[2] with the most successful covers
being by Josh Groban (#73 in the US and
#1 on the US Adult Contemporary chart),

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.   X2

There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.  X 2

You raise me up: To more than I can be.
